At this early stage, these are the general steps we envision for the project. Some have already been done.
Communicate the initial idea to Lynden City Council and choose a tentative location for the skate park.
Convey the specs of the land in question along with some basic characteristics of the desired skate structure to skate park design companies asking for rough estimates. Currently considering:
- Grindline Skateparks, Inc.
- New Line Skateparks
- Dreamland Skateparks
- Other companies are welcome to request information and bid.
Spread awareness of the project throughout the Lynden community, gathering skaters, their families and potential sponsors and volunteers into a core group.
Submit a proposal to the Lynden City Council for approval.
Gather all skaters and stakeholders together into a community meeting in which input can be gathered.
Raise the money as a community.
A design company transforms our vision into a permit-ready design with an AutoCAD file.
Get building permits to commence construction.
Volunteers in the community help to prep the land for excavation.
Construction begins on the skate structure.
Other elements, such as bench seating, water fountains and lighting can be built in coordination with skate structure construction.
