Wendy Talené was born in Papua New Guinea to missionary linguist parents, who were translating the Bible into the Folopa language. Most of her childhood was spent in PNG with occasional visits to the US.
Wendy holds a B.A. in Applied Linguistics from Trinity Western University. Her favorite little corner of linguistics is dialectology, studying the variation in dialects within a language between speakers in various geographic locations, demographics, discourse modes and social contexts. She often shifts into various English accents throughout the day, mid-conversation.
At home in Lynden, Washington, Wendy homeschools her two sons and runs her business. She is happiest when her work involves variety and creativity. There is always a project underway.
FUN FACT: The name Talené [TAH-day-neh] is a Folopa word that means “belonging to God”. When Wendy and Stu got married, instead of keeping Stu’s last name, they started from scratch and chose a word from Wendy’s jungle home in Papua New Guinea.
